CJ Buck and Bethany O’Donovan Join Mule Deer Foundation Board of Directors

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The Mule Deer Foundation (MDF) announced the appointment of two new Board members, CJ Buck and Bethany O’Donovan, during the recent Western Hunting and Conservation Expo.

CJ Buck, a fourth generation son to the well-known Buck Knives, brings not only executive experience to the MDF Board, but also a certain celebrity that is associated with the Buck brand. His other experience includes Boone and Crockett membership and participation with the Congressional Sportsmen’s Foundation. Buck is also the Legislative Chair for the American Knife and Tool Institute.

Buck said he sees his appointment to the MDF Board as an opportunity to have an impact on driving change. “We are at a cross roads with regard to how hunters are perceived by the non-hunting public. This is key to the future of our sport because all the work we do for habitat and deer will not mean much if we cannot hunt. Conservation of mule deer and black-tailed deer, sustainable and shared use is the goal.”

As Director for the National Assembly of Sportsmen’s Caucuses, Bethany O’Donovan worked closely with 38 state caucuses. She is a founding member of the D.C. Advisory Council for Rivers of Recovery, an organization that helps treat wounded warriors with PTSD through a fly fishing program.

O’Donovan hopes to utilize her political experience and legislative knowledge to assist MDF and help mule deer, the only North American big game species in decline. She said, “I am honored and excited to have the opportunity to serve on the Mule Deer Foundation’s Board of Directors. I look forward to working with fellow MDF members to further the MDF mission in both Washington, D.C. and in my home state of Montana.”

MDF President and CEO Miles Moretti said, “CJ and Bethany will bring new energy, enthusiasm and experience to the MDF Board. We are very excited to have them!”
